Frances Gzeckowicz Augustine, 96, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, died peacefully at her home on Friday November 18, 2011.

Born in Greenwich on August 16, 1915 to Thomas and Mary (Zaremba) Gzeckowicz, Frances was third of eight children including Joanna Delvy, George Gzeckowicz, Staff Sgt. John Gzeckowicz, Stella Whalley, Elizabeth Miska, and Thomas Gzeckowicz, all deceased. Surviving is sister Helen Useted of Manchester, Missouri.

Frances attended St. Mary School, Port Chester, New York, and Greenwich High School. She married her beloved George F. Augustine in 1938 and celebrated sixty-four years of marriage. George predeceased her in 2002.

Frances is remembered as a loving, inclusive, generous, and spirited wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her joys in life were family, friends, music, volunteer work, and cooking and catering work from which she retired at age eighty-five.

She was a communicant of St. Paul's R.C. Church, Greenwich, and until recent years she was an active member of the Rosary Society of St. Paul's Church, Western Greenwich AARP #3020, and Byram Seniors. Frances' devotion to her family knew no bounds.

She is survived by her sons George F. Augustine, Jr., William J. Augustine (Rita), of Santa Monica, California; and daughter Elizabeth A. Augustine (Preston Walker) of Greenwich. Frances was so proud of her family, especially her grandchildren Kristen A. Baldridge (Brian) of Los Angeles, California; and Jon W. Augustine (Lori) of El Dorado Hills, California. She was ecstatic to be great grandmother to Jordan and Nathan Baldridge and, also, to Jake, Luke, and Sophia Augustine. Frances is also survived by several loving and attentive nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may join in a celebration of her life: a wake will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 84 Sherwood Avenue, Greenwich.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
