Eldira and her husband were among the earliest citizens of the Kingdom, having lived here seventy one years.
Her husband, Charles P. "Ped" Allen, died forty years ago.

Dr. D.B. Huddleston, of near Williamsburg, Missouri, pronounced death caused by Arteriosclerosis. The informant was Arthur Allen of Mineola, Missouri.
Eldira was born August 1, 1823, in St. Charles, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel and Nancy (McCrutchen) Courtney. She was married to Charles P. Allen and he preceded her in death. Eldira was a housewife.
No undertaker was used, burial was done by the family in Allen Cemetery.
