Mary Isabella Chiles was the daughter of Thomas White Chiles and the former Miss Mary Hearst.

About 1835, Mary Isabella married Robert Warren Lites, son of Abraham Lites and the former Miss Jane Atkins. This union produced four children: Thomas Chiles Lites, Francis Knox Lites, Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Lites and Alice Lites.

Mary Isabella and Robert Warren Lites lived in Troy, South Carolina and were members of Troy A.R.P. Church.

Mary Isabella (née Chiles) Lites died at the age of 60 on the 12th day of February 1886. She is buried near her husband and parents in Cedar Springs A.R.P. churchyard cemetery.

Died at Troy, Abbeville County, S. C., February 12th, 1886, Mrs. Mary Isabella Lites, aged 58 years, 4 months and 10 days.… daughter of the late Thos. W. and M. Isabella Chiles. She was twice married; first to Mr. R. A. Jordan, who lived only four months after the marriage, and the second time to Capt. R. W. Lites, January 28, 1845.... member of Cedar Spring congregation until the organization at Troy… leaves a husband and four children.
