MRS. DELLA BIGGS OF BENTON DEAD

Was Member of a Pioneer Polk Family--Funeral Is at 2 P.M. Today

BENTON, Tenn.--Mrs. Della Biggs, 82, wife of the late B. E. Biggs, died Wednesday night at Cleveland hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Biggs was a native and life long resident of Polk County. She was the granddaughter of Abraham Lillard who came to Polk County in 1836 as one of Polk County's first settlers. He served as one of the counties first trustees.
Mrs. Biggs husband and two sons served as Polk County sheriff.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Benton.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Everett Bryant, Cleveland; one son, Birch Glenn Biggs, Etowah; one sister, Miss Libbie Lillard, Benton; six grandchildren, Mrs. Joanne Crane, Ripley, Tenn., Mrs. Tom Henry Biggs and Miss Mary Temple Biggs, Benton; Miss Rebecca Bryant, Carroll Biggs Bryant and Nancy Bryant, all of Cleveland, and one greatgrandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First Baptist Church, Benton, on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. M.W. Little and the Rev. D,W, Picklesimer officiating, with burial in the Benton cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pryor Crowe, Roy G. Lillard, Herman Wright, Tom Kelley, Ben Witt and Cas Geer. (Obit provided by Cindy Womble Billman)
