Albion's most "go-gettingest Mayor." Mayor of Albion 1931-1944, and 1949-1954. Owner of Albion Iron & Metal Company, one of the largest scrap iron businesses in Michigan. Mayor Wiener secured funds for Albion during the Great Depression from the Federal Government during the NRA and WPA area for the erection of City Hall, the 1940 brick Superior St., the Kalamazoo River retaining wall, the Band Shell in Victory Park, a new city water works, city garages, and other projects. Norman also served 20 years on the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors, and was chairman in 1936. He was born in Neschoiz, Russia and arrived in the U.S. at New York on the ship Pennsylvania on December 16, 1907. His parents were Mandel and Rivka Wiener. He came to Albion in 1910. He married Rose Stone in Beloit, Wisconsin on March 12, 1915. He died in Miami, Florida.
