Wayne Clifford Carter was the son of Floyd Gilmer "Pete" Carter, Sr. and Alice Graves Dooley Carter. He was the pastor of the little white chuch on Murray Hollow Road, Taylor's Mountain that his ancestors had built. He loved the Lord. Uncle Wayne had a very hard life growing up and he was a very humble man. He would give you the shirt off his back and help you any way he could. Our lives will never be the same after losing him.
Wayne Clifford Carter, 68, of Thaxton, died Friday, April 8, 2011. Born in Bedford, Virginia on February 4, 1943 a son of the late Floyd Gilmer "Pete" Carter and Alice Dooley Carter. In addition to his parents Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd "Dick" Carter, Jr. and Don Davis Carter.Wayne was survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Carter; two children, Anthony Wayne Carter and his wife, Peggy and their 2 daughters;and Teresa Dawn Carter; four sisters, Joanne Custer and her husband, Jimmy, Dorothy Mae Orange and her husband, Buford, Donna Faye Booth, and Shelby Spiva and husband, Randy; four brothers, Danny Carter and his wife, Anna, Jimmy Carter and his wife, Diana, Fred J. Carter, and Joe Croft; also numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Wayne's life will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Myers and Rev.
