Andrew Detamore was born in Champaign county, Illinois, December 28, 1858, and died at his home in Harvard on Wednesday evening, May 17, 1933, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 19 days. In January of 1884, he came from Illinois to Nebraska to a place west of Giltner known as the Pierce farm where he lived one year, then moved to the Skelton place south of Phillips. Later he lived for a time on a farm northwest of Giltner, which he bought. This he later sold and went to Buffalo county, Nebraska, where he had purchased land. He sold this and moved back on a farm just two miles east of Giltner, where the family resided until 1913, when they moved to Giltner where he bought a harness shop.
He lost his dear and loving wife whom he greatly missed in 1916. He then lived in Phillips for a year, and then in Grand Island for ten years. In June, 1925, he was married to Mrs. Klavonne, and they moved to Harvard where he lived until his death.
He leaves to mourn two sons, John and Charley, both of Phillips, and a daughter, Mrs. Edna Linden of Giltner, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also a sister, Mrs. Della Brumley of Giltner, besides a host of friends and more distant relatives. During the past four years, two brothers and a sister of the deceased have been called by death.
Funeral services were held at the Chrstian church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Friesen in charge. Pall bearers were Nelson LeBaron, Edd Cutts, J. A. Marvel, Charles Fry, Sam Cox and J. R. Millsap. Singers were Harold Dieckmann, Verla Chapman, Esther Howland and Cecil Howland. Interment was made at the Lerton cemetery.
