Charlie was born in Lexington to the late Charlie George Areheart and Lucretia Shull Areheart on February 21, 1924.
He was a life member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. As an adult in the church, he served as a member of the United Methodist Men.
Charlie joined the US Army in April of 1943 and served in the Central European Theatre during WWII. He was discharged with numerous honors in 1946. Charlie continued service in the Army National Guard until 1979.
He was predeceased by a brother, William A. Areheart, who was killed while serving in WWII.
Charlie and his late wife, Vivian Margaret Kyzer Areheart, married on September 14, 1945, and remained residents of Lexington County.
He is survived by his brother, David E. Areheart (Bonnie); and sisters, Louise A. Hallman and Catherine A. Huffstetler; four children, Carroll L. Areheart (Alice) of Charleston, SC, Betty Joyce Areheart Collins (Dexter), C. Randal Areheart (Freida), and Steven L. Areheart (Rhonda), all of Lexington, SC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was known to several nieces and nephews as "Uncle Doc".

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
