Daniel Hawkins died in 1823 and the date on his tombstone has been misread as 1825. A November 14, 1823 article in local newspapers offered properties from his estate at auction and his will was probated at that time. Also, Daniel Hawkins was not in Tim Bedell's regiment in eastern NH. If you check DAR records, that connection has been disproven many times. During early years of the Revolution, he lived in Providence, RI. He moved to Winchester, NH in 1778 and there of him ever serving in the military. Also, somewhere along the way an 11th son "Henry" came along. This was not a son of his and his will lists all ten of his children as still being alive.. No "Henry" I am a local historian and lived a few minute walk from the cemetery where he, and most of his children are buried.
