Mr. Abner was a self-employed mechanical draftsman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was born April 8, 1933 in Loogootee, Indiana to Louis E & Mary (Gallagher) Abner.

Survivors include his father, Louis Abner of Seymour; his wife, Sharon Abner of Indianapolis; his former wife, Rosalie Porter; two daughters Kathy and Kimberly Abner; a son, Kent Abner; a sister Margaret Ellen Brown of Indianapolis; and a brother, Benjamin Abner of Peoria, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother and a sister.
