Mr. Long was born in Floyd County on November 21, 1928, son the the late William Thomas Long and the late Charlcie Eugena Brock Long. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Terri Michelle Long and Donna Paulette Long; by three sisters, Bonnie Shedd, Frances Holley, and Gladys Long; and by two brothers, Sam Donald Long and Eugene Long. Mr. Long was employed for a number of years with Klopman Mills. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Pepsi-Cola here in Rome. He was a member of the Silver Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. Long was affectionately known in our area as the "Mayor of Silver Creek." He was a member of the Shannon Lodge #100 F.&A.M., the Rome Shrine Club, and the Lindale Star Association.
Survivors include his wife the former Bobbie Gene Warren, to whom he was married on May 21, 1960, a son, Paul William Long, Jr. and his wife, Terri, Silver Creek; a daughter, Mrs. Judy McEntyre, and her husband, Daniel, Rome; several grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
