Son of Lillian M. (Engvall) Edgerton (1896-1982) and Bryant Clinton Edgerton (1898-1985) of Stratford, Conn. Married to Dorothy (Firmender) Edgerton, they had two children: Robert A. Edgerton, Jr. and Donna Beth Edgerton.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Fairfield, Conn.; His son Robert Jr. and his wife Frances Edgerton and their three children: Kristin, Lindsay, and Robert III of Stratford, Conn; his daughter Donna Beth (Edgerton) Milne and her Husband Gordon Milne of Fairfield, Conn. Grandson of Hannah Jane (Bedford) Edgerton (1873-1963) and Albert Clinton Edgerton (1869-1958) who were married 27 Oct 1896 in New Britain, Conn. and are buried in the Union Cemetery Assn. 23 Temple Court Stratford, Conn.
