Ronald Eugene Evans, 70, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Friday in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Ronald was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Cherokee, Okla., to Frank Eugene and Rhea Doris Herschberger Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was on active duty from 1966 to 1968 assigned to the AG Corps Data Processing Center working as a programmer attached to the Pentagon. He attained the rank of specialist 5 and spent four years in the inactive Reserve. He worked with computers from 1957 to 1994. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from UTA, held a pilot's license and Texas CHL, and was a member of the NRA and TSRA. He loved flying, sailing, fishing, hunting and shooting. He built museum quality models of U.S. Army field artillery, some of which are in museum dioramas in Washington and Oregon. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: Loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Evans of Fort Worth; sisters, Mary Houston of Piedmont, Okla., and Betty June Tully of Crescent, Okla.; nieces, Aimee Houston of Oklahoma City and Amy Vogel of Fort Worth; nephew, Anthony Lombardi of Carpenteria, Calif.; mother-in-law, Mary Bailey of Fort Worth; and numerous other family members and friends.
