Word was received yesterday from Republic to the effect that Matthew Alexander, an old and substantial citizen of Greene County, died at his home near Republic, Thursday evening, of bowel trouble. No particulars could be learned. Deceased was quite a prominent farmer and stock dealer, and lived near the old Wilson Creek battle ground. Several years ago Mr. Alexander removed to a farm a few miles southwest of this city, and about a year ago went to the farm where he died. Deceased leaves a wife and an only son, Kindred.
