Louis was the 8th of 11 children and the youngest son of George and Mary.

Enlisted in the US Army on 25 March 1917. Corporal, Co I, 104th Infantry, 26th Division. Wounded in the right leg on 14 October 1918 in France for which he received the Purple Heart. Departed Bordeaux, France on 18 May 1919; arrived in Brooklyn on 30 May 1919. Discharged 5 June 1919.

Northampton – Louis Braman, 69, of 34 Rust Ave., a retired city fire fighter, died Saturday morning at his home. Born here Jan. 20, 1895, son of the late George W. and Mary (Lynch) Braman, he lived here all his life. During World War I, he was wounded in action while serving with the U S Army's Company "I", 104th Infantry Division, overseas for 22 months. He joined the Northampton Fire Department in March, 1920, and retired in November, 1945. Besides his wife, the former Sarah E. Murphy, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Main of Amherst and Mrs. Rachel Diemand of this city; one brother, Alfred H. Braman of Westhampton, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 2 at Newell Northampton funeral home. Burial will be at Bridge St. Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Veterans of Company I were requested Saturday by Cmdr. Leon J. Lavallee to meet tonight at 8 at the funeral home to pay their respects to their former comrade.
