Ruth Anna Herr, 87, Kokomo, died 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Manor Care Health Services.
She was born July 12, 1918, in Redfield, S.D., a daughter of Lloyd and Mamie (Young) Mansfield. On Feb. 2, 1935, in Kokomo, she married Ralph P. Herr Sr., who preceded her in death Nov. 29, 1998.
She retired in 1988 from Delco Electronics after 43 years of service.
She was a member of UAW 292 and loved gardening, sewing and painting. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice and husband Emerson Unzicker, Hamilton, Ohio; three sons, Jack V. Herr, Pendleton, Ralph P. Jr. and wife Sharon Herr, Kokomo, and Dale and wife Cathy Herr, Carmel; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Hall, Scott Herr, John Unzicker, Jerry Unzicker, Jim Unzicker, Joan Hymer, Larry Herr, Nancy Robertson, Christopher Herr, Jake Herr and Josh Herr; 12 great-grandchildren, Tanner Robertson, AJ Robertson, Jonathan Ice, Ross Underwood, Leigha Underwood, Carter Hall, Jack Hall, Nathon Hymer, Jacob Hymer, John Wayne Unzicker, Christina Unzicker and Jimmy Unzicker; four sisters, Jean Brown, Kokomo, Florence Javes, Cora and husband Henry Shuffelman and Evelyn Hockman, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Services are noon Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor John McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Calling is from 11 a.m. to time of services Saturday at the mortuary.
