Robert W. Gettings, aged 77, of Albany, N.Y., died at his residence at 11:40 a.m. Thursday following a lingering illness.

Born in Princeton, November 18, 1878, he was a son of Hugh and Matilda Stickle Gettings. He was a retired steelworker and left here in 1930 to go to California. In 1950, he went to Albany where he had been living since.

Mr. Gettings was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret E. McCafferty Gettings in 1937 and was married to Alta Flannery Gettings who survives him.

He formerly attended the St. John's Lutheran church here and held membership prior to going to California.

Surviving are the widow, Alta Flannery Gettings; two daughters, Mrs. T.C. Elder, Ellwood City, and Mrs. C. W. Fury, Youngstown; one son, George Gettings, this city; a stepson, Russell Thompson, Youngstown; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Gettings, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Moffat, this city, and Mrs. Minnie Shellenberger, R. D.

The body will arrive here at 10:07 p.m. today and will be taken to the Boyd-Myers Home for Funerals, 208 N. Jefferson St., where friends may call on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. William E. Fruth of St. John's Lutheran church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
