" Mrs. Katherine Cochrane, Pioneer, Passes Away After Long Illness
Mrs. Katherine Cochrane, pioneer resident of King County, died Tuesday at Columbus Sanitarium after a long illness.
Mrs. Cochrane was the widow of William Cochrane, one time sheriff of King County and one of the leading figures in the early developement of Seattle.
She was born in Kilkee, Ireland, July 10, 1869, and came here in 1888 shortly after her marriage. The couple made their home in the White River Valley near O'Brien.
Since her husband's death Mrs. Cochrane went out but little. For the last year she had spent much time in California in an effort to regain her health.
She is survived by five sons, all of whom are in business in or around Kent - William F., Emmett R., John T., Harold A. and Edward L. Cochrane.
Funeral services were held at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph's church and burial took place in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery."
