1. Family genealogy research:
Moved with family to Ohio in 1806. Grew up in Belmont County, in 1836 he purchased land in Seneca County. In 1837, purchased 240 acres of virgin forest in Steuben County, Indiana. In 1841, he moved his family from Ohio to Indiana. Their first home was a cabin 16 feet square with one room above and one below, built without nails.Various occupations: surveyor, tailor, shoemaker, farmer. He was known to have been an excellent marksman. 1850 census lists his real estate valued at $1,000.
