Patrick Patten, 44, of 516 E. 16th died Thursday afternoon at a local hospital.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Mullowney will officiate. Burial site will be announced later. visitation will be Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born June 13, 1932, in Waterloo, Iowa, Mr. Patten was the son of Isaiah and Ella Beatty Patten. He was reared and educated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended college in Seattle, Wash., later serving in the U.S. Air Force.

On Oct. 28, 1962, he married Paula Penner in Grand Island. the couple lived here until 1966 when they moved to Center Point, Iowa, where Mr. Patten operated the Sim-Pat Roofing Co. In 1971 they returned to Grand Island where he was a roofing contractor.

Survivors include his widow; a son, and two daughters, all at home; his mother and a sister, both of Center Point, Iowa, four brothers, and nieces and nephews. (names withheld for privacy)
