"Charles D "Charlie" Carter was the oldest child of Jessie Carter. He was Clerk of Superior Court for schley County from 1917 to 1946. He was also a Baptist preacher and preached in Dranevill (Marion Co), Seminole (Webster Co), and Ebenezer in Schley Co. He and Lillie lived once on the north Corner of Stevens Street and later on W. Oglethorpe Street. They had five children: Earl, Jesse Leroy, Leon, Many Nan, Milton. Son, Leon, was killed in action in WWI, 1918."

Friends here were advised today of the death of Rev. Charles David Carter (1872-1946), the father of C. M. Carter, principal of the Palatka elementary school, at his home yesterday at Ellaville, Ga., after a lengthy illness.
Professor Carter was summoned home immediately after the closing of school this summer on account of the critical illness of the parent.
The elder Carter was a Baptist minister and also Ordinary of the Court at Ellaville.
Funeral service will be held there tomorrow. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dated Thursday, 25 Jul 1946.)
