Aged Resident Passed Away Saturday, Mar h 5

Entering into rest following a long period of I'll health, Mrs. Eliza Dougherty, venerable resident, passed on to her Heavenly home Saturday evening, Mar h 5, at 8:50 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. W. W. Granger in this city.
Mrs. Dougherty was 81 years, 7 months and 11 days of age.She was a native of Bedford, Ky., but had lived in Texas since before the Civil War. She made her home in Gonzales with her daughter since 1920. Mrs. Granger is the only living child.
A devoted mother, a noble Christian woman, has gone to her reward. Her was a long and useful life and she has left a beautiful memory to the grief stricken daughter who cared for her so tenderly during her declining years.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Granger residence, Rev. J. W. Allbritten of the First Methodist church and Dr. J. E. James of the First Presbyterian church conducted the impressive services in the presence of numbers of friends of the family assembled to pay her memory a last tribute.
The remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery where a short service marked the final rites . Numbers of beautiful floral offerings made fair her last resting place.
Ernest Wade, Chas. Holmes, Frank and and G. Tenberg, Conde Hoskins and Anton Trlica were the pallbearers.
In her loss Mrs. Granger has the warm sympathy of numerous friends.
"Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep,
From whence none ever wakes to weep."
