Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late William P. and the late Clara (Turner) Berger.
A graduate of Penn State, he earned his masters degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a high school Biology teacher at Hanover Park High School, Hanover NJ for over thirty years retiring in 1990.
Tom was a Master Mason of the Jephthah Lodge in Rockaway.
Surviving is his wife of thirty-two years Claire (Reimers) Berger, two daughters Susan of Iowa and Penny of Hamilton Twp NJ; son William Berger and his wife Liz of NC; stepson, Stephen and his wife Kim; Stepdaughter, Suzanne and her husband Robert of Boonton, NJ. Also surviving are his three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; his brother Daniel (Arlene) Berger of Tunkhannock, PA.; and a niece and nephew.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday October 24, 2007 at 11:00 am at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church, 10 Knoll Dr., Rockaway NJ 07866.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Dean Home For Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville NJ 07834.
