Mr. Carol James Allen, affectionately known as, Jimmy, was born July 4, 1927 in Waycross, GA. He died on Thursday, March 7, 2014 at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross, GA. of an extended illness. He was 86 years old. He was the son of Willie Grey Allen and Sarah Jane Jones Allen.

Jimmy graduated from Wacona High School in Waycross, GA in 1943. He later attended South Georgia College in Douglas, GA. He joined the Merchant Marines and then the United States Army during WWII. Upon discharge from the US Army he attended and graduated from Gradwohl School of Medical Technology in St. Louis, MO. He came back to Homerville, GA and worked in the Huey Hospital for Dr. Dan B. Terry, Sr. After his marriage he returned to school and graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Hospital Administration. For the next 34 years Jimmy worked as a Hospital Administrator retiring in 1990.

Having been raised during the depression and having served his country, Jimmy was a strong proponent of patriotism and service to his community. He was a much sought after public speaker. The most frequently asked for speech was on "The Great Seals of the United States of America". He also made many patriotic speeches stressing the importance of small government and citizen involvement. Jimmy was involved in many civic organizations & clubs, i.e. the VFW, American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, Athletic Booster Club, Band Boosters, Rotary Club, Exchange Club and was Master of several Masonic Lodges. He was Methodist by faith and active in his church for many years.

Jimmy is survived by his four children: Dr. Eddie (Susan) Allen of Gainesville, GA; Lois (Doyle) Baker of Douglas, GA; William (Sherry) Allen of Jacksonville, FL; Carol (Buddy) Aycock of St. Simons Island, GA. 9 grandchildren: Lauren Allen, Andrea Allen, Natalie Allen, Andrew Baker, Matthew Baker, Grayson Allen, Tara M. Simpson, Benjamin Aycock & Zane Aycock. His brother Bill Allen of Waycross, GA and Sister Edith A. Rigdon of Waycross, GA. and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie G. and Sarah J. Allen, Brothers Willie J. Allen, Clell G.G. Allen, Lacy J. Allen, twin brother Carl Allen and Sister Lois A. Fyfe.

The family would like to acknowledge all of the fine employees of the Waycross Baptist Village Facility. Their devotion and excellence of care of this beloved Daddy, Brother, Uncle, and Papa was without measure. Thank you to all the staff, but most especially those of the Men's Unit.

The family would also ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Waycross Baptist Village Men's Unit. (Baptist Village, 2650 Carswell Ave., Waycross, GA 31503 Attn: Men's Unit)

Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross, GA on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.. Burial Services will take place at Kettle Creek Cemetery, Carswell Ave., Waycross, GA.
