Dorothy S. Newnam of Bloomfield Hills, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend to many; departed this life on Friday, November 4th, 2011. Born to Carolyn and Henry Snook in Detroit, Michigan on October 27, 1903. She spent the majority of her 108 years in the Detroit-Metropolitan area. Dorothy was the oldest lifelong member of Red Run Golf Club as well as a member of the DAC for decades and Oakland Hills Country Club for several years.
She is survived by her daughter Joan C. Rex of Bloomfield Hills; her granddaughters Julie R. (Steve) DeBacco, of South Carolina, and Jodie C. Rex of Troy; her great-granddaughter Jaclyn M. DeBacco, of South Carolina; her goddaughter Ann (Royce) Wettlaufer Benjamin; and her grand nieces Joan McHenry, Marilyn McHenry, and Nancy McHenry McMurray.
The family would especially like to thank the compassionate staff of the Maple Village Lutheran Community for all their efforts these past 7 years, as well as Dorothy's wonderful, loving & devoted caregivers who were with her till the end.
Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 A.M. (instate 10:00 A.M.), November 8th, 2011 at A.J Desmond & Sons - Vasu Rodgers Connell Chapel, 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, MI 48073, with a Private Entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
