BUSTER STOWERS, Lincoln County commissioner, born April 15, 1926, passed away Oct. 16, 2009, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, from complications of a stroke at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ealy Lovejoy Stowers; and and an infant brother, Rexal Stowers. He is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Ollie Bell Dingess Stowers; one daughter, Naomi Linville (Jim); two sons, Buster Stowers Jr. (Betty) and Thomas Stowers (Marcella); one sister, Barbara Hancock (Bill) one brother, Dorsel Stowers (Corena); six grandchildren, Crystal Clay (Terry), Teresa Pauley, Mike Stowers (LaTonya), Tonya Stowers, Thomas Stowers II, Jessi Linville; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Linville, Devin Hager, Derek Stowers, Meghan Pauley, Kaleigh Linville and Mikey Stowers. He also leaves behind a host of friends. Buster was a World War II veteran, serving in Japan for the U.S. Army. He has also served the people of Lincoln County for 29 years as county commissioner. Buster, along with his father Frank and brother Dorsel owned and operated Parsner Creek Lumber Company for over 35 years. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with the Rev. Watson Wiley and Rev. Darrell Searls officiating. Interment will follow at Stowers Cemetery, Griffithsville, WV with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post No. 111, Hamlin, WV. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin.
