New London Resident Dies

New London (IA)-- Thomas Henry Harrison (Harry) McDowell of New London passed away Tuesday morning at 2:40 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington where he had been taken several hours earlier. He suffered a heart attack Monday afternoon at the New London municipal light plant where he was employed.

The son of Sarah (Pickard) and David A. McDowell, he was born September 8, 1883, near Salem. He was married April 23, 1916, at Morning Sun to Bertha Lee Hannah. For twenty years the family resided in New London where Mr. McDowell was employed as an engineer by the city. He was a member of the New London Methodist church.

Besides his wife, he leaves the following children: Mrs. Roby Combs of Rosemead, California; Rex, Robert, and Lois at home. Surviving also are a granddaughter, Ruth Combs, a nephew, Charles McDowell of Salem, who was reared with his family; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. May Sloan of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Ella Stoddard of Oakland California; Bert and Allen of Salem; Mrs. Kate Wiggins of Mt. Pleasant. A daughter, Irene, and a brother, John are deceased.

The body was taken to the Elliott Chapel in New London. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of the daughter from California.
