RLAST RITES HELD FOR ROSA ROBERTS
Funeral services for Rosa Roberts, 93, were held Friday, October 25, 1963, at 2:00 p.m. form the Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alvin Sigafus officiating. Casket bearers were Donald Haley, Steven Haley, Robert Miller, Max Roberts, Donnie Dhone, and Chester Haley. Mrs. Mabel Dunn accompanied Mrs. Carolyn Harris in the following vocal selections, “Rock of Ages” and “Abide With Me.” Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
Rosa Roberts, daughter of James and Phoebe Sanburn, was born July 19, 1870, near Villisca, Iowa and passed away in her home in Sciola, Iowa, October 23, 1963 after an illness of eight years.
She was united in marriage to Albert Roberts July 9, 1891 and to this union were born five children, Blanche and Miles at home, Bertha Miller and Frank Roberts of Villisca, and Bessie Haley of Red Oak.
Besides her nieces and nephews there are 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband; four brothers, Will, Jim, Henry, and Ed; one sister, Lillie; and one grandchild, Wesley Miller.
Most of her life was spent in the Villisca and Nodaway communities. She was united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in her youth. She had a deep concern for the welfare of her family and friends throughout her life.
