John Ester Rogers was born Feb 23, 1892 in the Rankin Community of Ellis County. He was the second of 10 children born to John David Rogers and Susan Elizabeth Ward. He grew up in Rankin and in his later youth, worked in his father's cotton fields. In 1912 he married Alvina Mae Gorman of Rankin. She was the daughter of James Arthur Gorman and Frances Catherine Hines. (His sister Lois Elsie Rogers married Alton Ford Gorman, brother of Alvina Mae Gorman on Dec 25, 1911).

John and Mae were the parents of 8 children.

After they married, John and Mae moved to Ennis where he worked as a long-haul trucker. He died in a truck accident on HW 75 between Dallas and Houston.

His wife Mae and her 8 children. their spouses and her grandchildren sre shown in the photo on the right taken by William Gorman on the front lawn of her brother Artie Gorman's house in 1951.
