Born in Norton, daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Hamilton) Hewins, she attended Wheaton College and moved to Lakeville in 1929.
Mrs. Leonard was a domestic aide to several families in the area and served as a substitute teacher in local schools.
She was a charter secretary of the Lakeville Conservation Commission and worked as a Liberian at James White Memorial Library in Freetown where she retired in 1984 after 18 years of service.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah (Leonard) Brooks of Poland Springs, Maine; thee sons, Gerome Leonard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Luke Leonard, Jr. of Lakeville and Peter Leonard of Cape May, New Jersey; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Mildred (Hewins) Shaw.
