LYONS - Ray A. Nodurft, 64, former Rice County sheriff, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita, He had been ill four months.
Mr. Nordurft was sheriff from 1943 to 1946. He also worked part time on the city police force.
He was born April 13, 1898, in Rice County.
He married Reba Mae Woodard, Dec. 20, 1922, at York, Neb. They had lived in Lyons 35 years.
Mr. Nodurft attended the Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Knights of Pythias, American Legion and World War I USA Veterans.
He is survived by the widow, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Matthew, Mrs. Vera Jo Lundy and Mrs. Audray Ann Stackhouse, all of Lyons; one sister, Mrs. Helen Smith, Ft. Worth, Tex.; four, brothers, Harry and Ralph, of Ft. Worth; Vere of Brownwood, Tex.; and William of Everest, Kan.; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church, Rev. Carmie W. Roll officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Crawford-Miller Mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
