Infected Boil Results Fatally
John R. Bruns, Farmer At Bebe, Victim Of Blood Poisoning

John R. Bruns, a young farmer living near Bebe, is as the result of blood poison from a infected boil on the hand, passing away Monday, Oct. 26th, at 1:15 a.m. at the residence of Reid Tieken three miles east of this city.
Mr. Bruns had a boil on his right hand and lanced it Sunday, Oct. 18, with a pocketknife, from which it is believed the infection was caused..
He was 34 years, 11 months and 8 days. Surviving him are his wife, formerly Miss Katie Tieken, two sons, Johnnie and Lubin, and a daughter, Jennievine, besides his mother, Mrs. Agnes Bruns of Goliad, and seven brothers and one sister, Louis and A. F. Bruns of Gonzales , Arthur Bruns of Bebe, Herman Bruns of Harlingen, Willie Bruns of Weser, Fred Bruns of Huisatche, Gerhard Bruns of Goliad, and Mrs. Otelia Hahn of Charlotte.

Mr. Bruns was a natie of Fayette county.
His untimley death is a severe blow to his loved ones and numerous friends in this section, where he was held in warm esteem.
The remains have been carried to the residence of George Tieken on North Avenue and Funeral will be held from there Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, with services in German at the Lutheran church of this city, after which interment will be made in the City cemetery, where the services will be conducted in English.
In their great sorrow the family will have the deep sympathy of many friends.

Remains Of J. R. Bruns Laid To Rest

Numerous relatives and friends, many of them from a distance, were assembled at the Lutheran Church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock to pay their final earthly tribute to the memory of John R. Bruns, whose remains were consigned to their last resting place in the City Cemetery with appropriate ceremonies.
Along procession escorted them from the residence of George Tieken on North avenue, where they had been removed the previous afternoon, the Hermann Sons Lodge of which he was a member, marching in a body.
The impressive services at the church were conducted in German by the pastor, Rev. R. A.Schmidt, with appropriate songs rendered by the choir under the direction of D. W. Heye.
Another touching service was conducted in English at the cemetery by Rev. Mr. Schmidt, after which the remains, consigning them to earth with the solemn burial ceremonies of their order.
Acting as pall bearers were the following members of the lodge: Albert Spahn, Rudolph Barsch, Willie Komall, John Saliger, Frank Saligrer and Charlie Ronshausen.
The floral offerings were both very numerous and beautiful, indicating the high regard in which Mr. Bruns was held, as well as mutely conveying a message of warm sympathy to the loved ones in their great sorrow.The new made mound was completely mantled in fragrant bloom.
all the out of town relatives, including the aged mother, were here for the funeral with the exception of a brother living at Harlingen.

Grandson of John Bruns and Meta Zumuchlen.
Meta died in 1853 in Germany. After her death he bought his children to America. They came to Galveston Texas in the fall of 1853.
John operated a pottery plant, in Gonzales Texas, possible near the old brick yard in Independence Park.
He died January 1856. His children were:
