Stephen C. Gonzales, 72, of Scottsbluff went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 21, at First Assembly of God Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Mariano Menendez officiating. Interment will follow at Bayard City Cemetery. The Nebraska Army National Guard will provide military honors. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, from 6-7 p.m. at River of Life Church in Scottsbluff. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. also at River of Life. Memorials may be made to the River of Life Church. Stephen was born November 8, 1939 in Magnolia, Texas to Guadalupe and Emma (Castillo) Gonzales. Stephen worked a lot in construction, mainly doing cement work. He enjoyed fishing in his free time. He will always be remembered for his good sense of humor and being able to make everyone laugh. Survivors include his brothers, Sam C. Gonzales of Liberty, Illinois, Juan (Maria) C. Gonzales of Bayard, and Paul C. Gonzales of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; sisters, Sarah Galindo of Scottsbluff and Consuelo (Manuel) Urdiales of Scottsbluff; and lots of nieces and nephews. Preceding Stephen in death were his parents, Guadalupe and Emma; and sisters, Rose Bouws and Virginia Galindo.
