Henry was the husband of the former Laura M. Raines of Darlington County, South Carolina, a daughter of Edward L. Raines and Sallie A. (nee?). They married just outside of Timmonsville, South Carolina on June 23, 1900 at the home of his parents. He was a barber, and Laura worked in a "sewing room" in Greenville. They lived on Woodside Circle. Henry died as a result of heart problems.
The couple had several children. One son, Carl H. Alexander played professional minor league baseball in the southern United States in more than one league.
Henry's father was a Confederate Civil War veteran who fought at the Battle of Gettysburg and several other well known battles. He was John Wesley Alexander, and his wife was the former Sarah Ann M. "Sallie" Stewart, both of old Darlington District, South Carolina.
