Jackson Independent:
Joseph W. Dark Sr. age, 79 of Jonesboro, La died Thursday night, February 9, 1978 in the Jackson Parish Hospital after a brief illness. Mr Dark was a veteran of WWI and a retired employee of continental Can Company in Hodge, La.
Funeral services were held at 1pm, Saturday, February 11, 1978 in the North Hodge Assembly of God church. Rev. D.E. Stroud, Rev. Bob Willis, and Rev. Odis Knapp conducted the services. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include one son, Joseph W. Dark Jr of Jonesboro; two daughters, Mrs. Loyce Shively of Jonesboro and Mrs Wanda Allen of Shreveport; One brother, Jim Franklin Dark of Jonesboro; six sisters, Mrs Louella Branch of Winnfield, Mrs Maude Reed of Jonesboro, Mrs Gordy Powell of Eros, Mrs Cora Carter of Thibodeaux, Mrs Annie Zeigler and Mrs Ora Higgenbotham, both of Easton, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 4 great granchildren also survive. Pallbearers were Gene Dark, Charlie Dark, Tony Traina, Bill Phillips, David Walswork, J.E. Townley, and Leonard Johnson.
