ALBERTA C. BOARTFIELD, 81, of Memphis, retired secretary and homemaker, died of pneumonia Thursday at Shelby County Health Care Center. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Mausoleum East. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. She was a member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church, past president of Democratic Women of Shelby County, and former office manager for U.S. Rep. George Grider and Sen. Albert Gore. Mrs. Boartfield, the widow of Charles 'Dug' Boartfield, leaves two daughters, Eleanor Langston of Memphis and Judy Bresnahan of Dallas; a sister, Phyllis Pate of Midfield, Ala.; a brother, William H. Crawford of Lake Wales, Fla., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
