LAPEER COUNTY (WJRT) - 911/17/11) A Lapeer county teen died in a fiery crash just one day before her birthday.
The accident happened around 8:30 last night at North Branch and Booth Roads in Deerfield Township.
The Lapeer County Sheriff's Department tell us 18 year old Cody Olmstead was going south on Booth Road.
He went through a stop sign and hit Morgan Dingus who was driving west on North Branch.
The two vehicles collided and Dingus' car caught fire. She died on the scene.
Omstead was taken to the hospital, at one point his injuries were life threatening.
Friends tell us Morgan's 17th birthday was today.
But instead of celebrating, her family, friends and classmates are grieving. "We just did not have class today,we just like sat around and try to cheer each other up and we talked about the good things about her, there was nothing wrong with her just the way she went was terrible," says Mayville High School Junior Anna Patterson.
