Duane A. Milliman, 63, of West Curtis Street, Stryker, Ohio, died suddenly Wednesday evening (April 22, 1987) at the Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Born May 16, 1923 in Morenci, he was the son of Leon and Lena Barber Milliman. A World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Milliman was a sales representative for the Spangler Tobacco and Candy Company in Bryan, Ohio, for 30 years. From 1976 to 1986 he served on the Stryker council including a time as council president. He was a member of the Stryker United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader, president of the council of ministries, and was a formal Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member and past master of the Gorham Lodge No. 287 of F&AM of Fayette, Ohio, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 77 of Fayette, and the Scottish Rite and Zenobia Shrine of Toledo. He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Thompson; one son, David Milliman of Bryan; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Sandy) Brown, Mrs. James (Patsy) Mealer, and Cindy Milliman, all of Stryker; two brothers, Willard and Rodney Milliman, both of Hillsdale; two sisters, Mrs. Elton (Roselyn) Santee of Adrian and Mrs. Verie (Marjory) Sprague of Hudson; and seven grandchildren. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Stryker United Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Helsel officiating. Burial will be in Stryker Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the Grieser Funeral Home in Stryker. Masonic service will be held at 7 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Stryker United Methodist Church.
