Mrs. Gladys McDowell Brooks, age 95 of Powder Springs, formerly of Rockmart passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011.

Mrs. Brooks was born on February 7, 1916 in Dallas, Georgia, daughter of the late Mr. W. V. McDowell and the late Mrs. Vera Durham McDowell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Springdale Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clarence B. Brooks on June 3, 1990; and six brothers, Mr. J. T. McDowell, Mr. Clyde McDowell, Mr. Woodrow McDowell, Mr. Horace McDowell, Mr. Virgil McDowell and Mr. Ray McDowell.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Juanita Brooks of Powder Springs; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Manning and Jane and Willard Jacobs of Rockmart; and two grandchildren, Tonya Abernathy and Tony Brooks. Six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held on Sunday, April 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Springdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby McDowell officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery of Dallas.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Marvin McDowell, Paul McDowell, Joe McDowell, Brett Manning, Robert McDowell and Corey McDowell.
