Born December 6, 1918, in Covington, MI, daughter of Eva Koveronkoski and Kalle Leppanen, Anne was raised in Covington. Following graduation from Kenton high school she attended nursing school in Chicago and became a registered nurse. In 1943 Anne enlisted in the United States Army Nurse Corps, serving her country in the Asiatic Pacific on a hospital ship. She was honorably discharged in 1945 and continued her nursing career in the Chicago area before moving back to Marquette in the mid 1950s. Anne spent the rest of her life in the Upper Peninsula.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Deanna) Hair of Ann Arbor, MI; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hair of Ann Arbor, MI, Kimberly Hair of Chicago, IL and Kristen (Justin) Kaiser of Highland Park, IL; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Martha Leppanen of Marquette and Aili (Dr. John) Imarisio of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hair; her parents and her sister Ida.
The family will receive friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Burial will take place in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Stickney, IL.
