Delbert L. Derr 81, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 12:45 AM at the West Point Care Center.
He was born on August 3, 1930 in Charleston, IA to Maxine Derr. On November 24, 1955 he married Caroline T. Krogmeier at Sacred Heart Church in Ft. Madison; she preceded him in death on December 31, 2008. Delbert was a farmer and also worked at Midwest Waxed Paper and Burrows Paper Corp. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, an honorary member of FFA and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include five sons, Bernard (Brenda) Derr of Ft. Madison, Martin (Linda) Derr of Donnellson, Norman (Carey) Derr of West Point, Richard (Tami) Derr of Ft. Madison, John (Mel) Derr of West Point; four daughters, Marlene (Kevin) Westfall of Ft. Madison, Anita (Phillip) Westfall of Donnellson, Theresa (Jim) Hayes of Ft. Madison, Janet (Rob) Faeth of Ft. Madison; twenty grandchildren, six step grandchildren, one great grandchild and three step great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Kirchner of Donnellson and one sister Lillian Schweer of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his mom and wife.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
