Born in Hanover, on January 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Baum) Sterner.
Mildred was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA. She was active in the Women's Group WELCA, the Junior Christian Endeavor Society, Sunday School, and sang soprano in the church choir most of her life. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Fire Company Women's Auxiliary, cooking and serving many banquet meals.
Mrs. Gobrecht's life was spent in West Manheim Township where she was a student of Mathias one room school. She worked hard on their family farm, taking pride in her vegetable garden. Mildred was an excellent quilter, having mde beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Carl L. Gobrecht and wife, Faye, and Glenn E. Gobrecht and wife, Mary. She was a devoted grandmother to Matthew Gobrecht, Kirsten (Gobrecht) Young, Carrie (Gobrecht) Baird, Michelle (Gobrecht) Baumgardner, and Jared Gobrecht; and a great-grandmother to Braden, Darren, and Holden Gobrecht, Aislyn, Audrey, and Isaac Baird, Emma and Oliver Young, Cade and Cora Baumgardner, and Claire and Reid Gobrecht. Also surviving is a brother, Clair Sterner.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Sterner, and sisters, Buelah Warner and Treva Leppo.
A service to celebrate the life of Mildred will be held, November 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Barthlomew's United Church, ELCA, Hanover, with her pastor, the Rev. Steven E. Thomas, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA cemetery.
