Mrs. Lillian Slater, 96 of the Lincoln Hill Nursing Center, formerly of 1602 Locust, died at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday March 15, 1983 in the center.
She was born May 10, 1886 in Quincy, a daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Helfrink Niehaus. She married George M. Slater July 30, 1904 in Hannibal, Missouri. He died May 16, 1958. They had a floral shop at 1602 Locust for many years.
Mrs. Slater was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Primrose Circle, a member of Blessing Hospital Auxiliary and an honorary member of Ellington Unit of Adams County Homemakers Extension Association, Miriam Shrine and Alpha Chapter 109 OES.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Katherine Griffin, Mrs Charles (Hazel) Hertzler, Mrs. Elmer(Marg) Gower, Mrs. Kenneth (Lola) Lakey, and Mrs. Ben (Irene) Donhardt all of Quincy, Mrs. Lillian McCormick of Burlington, Iowa. a son William Slater of Quincy, 15 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son George Jr. and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Nelson conducting. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Quincy, Illinois. Hanson Spear Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
