Jane Maude Maynard, nearly always called "Maude" was the daughter of David Otis and Jane Bump Maynard. She married Wilbur Fiske Ashley in 1897, and they became the parents of four children: Olive Maude, Waldo Francis, Wilbur Desmond and Arthur Leon Ashley. Wilbur predeceased Maude by about 55 years and she never remarried. She taught piano for 50 years, was church organist and pianist, and choir director; she was organist for an Eastern Star Chapter in New Haven, CT, and for the Old Lyme Grange No. 162. At age 87 she was still playing for the Old Lyme Eastern Star Chapter and the Old Lyme Grange, and also directing a 30-voice choir of fifth and sixth grade girls as she had been doing for the previous 8-10 years.
