Donald Roy Hammon, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 3, 2012, at his home from congestive heart failure. He was under the care of his family and Aspen Hospice.
Don was born August 11, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Willard Levi Hammon and Elizabeth M. Jordan Hammon. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended local schools. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
On April 27, 1950, he married Jean Harris in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Ririe, where they raised their five children, Lois, Elaine, Lee, Derlin, and Lyle. Don was a Manager and Produce Buyer. Jean passed away July 22, 2007.
In September of 2008, he married Donna Grover Kirby. They made their home in Idaho Falls.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Don served in numerous callings. He and Jean served a full-time mission to the Nevada Las Vegas Mission, serving in the Arizona area. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved horses.

Stepdaughter: Shirley (Dave) Asper of Coeur d'Alene, ID
Stepdaughter: Susan (Kelly) Davis of Idaho Falls, ID
Stepdaughter: Shayla (Brent) Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID
Stepson: Scott (Stacie) Kirby of Spokane, WA
Sister: Elna Chandler of Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Mary Garrett of Rigby. ID
Brother: W. Marion Hammon of Idaho Falls, ID
39 Grandchildren and 67 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; a daughter, Lois Kern; and a son, Derlin Hammon.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the Ririe LDS 3rd Ward, 285 Second West, Ririe, with Bishop Mike Richards officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery next to his first wife, Jean. Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
