Samuel Blaine Hammer, 82, 2039 W. 10th St., died Saturday evening at Ball Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Grant County, and had resided in Muncie most of his life.
He had been a member of the Wilmore EUB Church. He retired in 1953 as an inspector at Warner Gear where he had worked for 35 years.
Mr. Hammer is survived by his wife, Opal; three sons, Emil, Orlando, Fla., Lawrence Hammer Sr., Selma, and G. Verdell Hammer, Visalia, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Betty McKinley, Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A son, Harold R. Hammer, died Oct. 28.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parsons Mortuary. Rev. James Dilly Willmore will officiate. Burial will be in the Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
