Mr. Hayes served with the Army during the Viet Nam War. He was with the 75th Airborne Rangers in Viet Nam. While in the Army, Terry was awarded the Expert for the M-14 Rifle and Sharpshooter for the .45 Pistol. He had attended the 7th Army NCO Academy and took Leadership courses there. He had achieved the rank of SP4 E-4 (T). His last duty assignment and major command was 59th MP Co (Pt1) USATCEUR USACOMZEUR. He was honorably discharged on March 19, 1965.
He had resided most of his life in the Niagara Falls area and had graduated from LaSalle High School there. He was employed at General Motors where he worked in the engineering division for 30 years until his retirement in October of 2002.
Mr. Hayes enjoyed scuba diving and boating. He had been active as a Boy Scout Leader. He also loved, worked with and raised horses. He was proud of his horses, Daisy and King.
He was a member of the Saddle Duster Club of Belfast.
Surviving are a son, Todd J. (Deanna) Hayes of Texas; a daughter, Dana J. Hayes of New Jersey; two grandsons; a sister, Lorraine Myers of Niagara Falls; a half-brother, John Walter “Jack” (Sue) Braham of Niagara Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service was held at the funeral home.

Peggy was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur LeBlanc of Niagara Falls.
