Widow of the late Julius L Brown
Mrs. Brown spent many years of her life in Atlanta, but after the passing of her daughter, Martha Fort Brown, several years ago, she has resided in Chattanooga, making her home with Colonel Tomlinson Fort, her brother, and Mrs. Kate H. Fort, her sister, while they lived.
For quite a time she was literary editor of The Chattanooga News, of which her nephew, George F. Milton, is editor and publisher.
She was active in the women's organizations of Atlanta, being the organizer of the Women's council here, and afterwards performing the same service for the women of Chattanooga. She was also widely interested in women's work of all kinds and was an active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, woman's suffrage and other activities.
Daughter of Dr. Tomlinson Fort; youngest of 13 children.
Granddaughter of Arthur Fort.
Educated in the schools of Milledgeville and at Wesleyan college and at Charleston, SC.
Married, in 1871, to Julius L. Brown. The two children of this union proceeded her in death.

Only surviving sister is Mrs. Sarah F. Milton, of Chattanooga, TN.
Sister-in-law, Mrs. John P. Fort, of Mount Airy, GA
Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law of the Brown family: George M. Brown, Elijah A. Brown, of Atlanta; ex-Governor Joseph M. Brown, of Marietta; Mrs. E. T. Connally and Miss Sallie Eugenia Brown of Atlanta.
Nephews, John A. Morgan of Memphis TN and George F. Milton of Chattanooga and her niece, Mrs. John R. Ellis of Atlanta.
Funeral services were held at the residence of Mrs. Sallie Eugenia Brown, 110 Peachtree street, Atlanta. The remains were taken to Chattanooga on the 3:45 pm Southern train, where she now rests beside her beloved daughter, Martha Fort Brown.
