Her mother remarried and became Mrs. Thomas Elam of NYC. She served as President of the Outdoor Cleanliness Assn. for many years and was Chair of its very popular annual Flower Mart on the steps of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Two of her most popular charitable fundraising events were the NYC premieres of the films "Giant" and "Of Men and Music", the former she organized with Mrs. Lou Gehrig (Eleanor Grace Twitchell-Gehrig) and Mrs. J. C. Penney and the latter with Mrs. John Jacob Astor and Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor. Pearl died at the age of 65 while visiting a niece in Denver. She left behind her step-daughter Cornelia Althea Ruppert-Vernon (Mrs. Murray) and her step-grandchildren, Murray Jr. and George Ruppert Vernon, a step-great-grandaughter Anne Buck Vernon and many nieces and nephews. Pearl was entombed in the Ruppert Family Mausoleum next to her husband.
