She entered St. Rose Convent in 1936, influenced in part by her father's sister, Sister M. Alonza Bielefeld. Sister Josara taught for two years before entering the field of health care. She ministered as a medical laboratory technician for 43 years in hospitals in La Crosse, Idaho Falls and Arco, Idaho, Hillsboro and St. Anthony's Carroll, Iowa. Sister Josara volunteered at St. Anthony's another five years before moving to Villa St. Joseph in 1995, where she served as a volunteer. She retired at Villa in 2006.
